Why Motswana Intelligence?
The name Motswana Intelligence carries deep meaning rooted in identity and purpose. Motswana is the Setswana word for a citizen of Botswana, representing our commitment to building AI solutions that serve and empower the people of Botswana and the broader African continent.
We chose this name because we believe that artificial intelligence should not be something imported from elsewhere and applied without context. Instead, it should emerge from an understanding of local challenges, local data, and local aspirations. We are building intelligence that is authentically African, practically useful, and globally competitive.
By combining Motswana with Intelligence, we signal our mission: to bring world-class AI capabilities to businesses in Botswana and beyond, while staying grounded in the values, languages, and realities of our home.

Motswana is pronounced as moh-TSWAH-nah.
The tsw sound is a common click consonant combination in Setswana. If you are unfamiliar with it, try saying ts as in cats followed immediately by a w sound. The emphasis falls on the second syllable: TSWAH.
